STAND Together during COVID-19
In response to the enormous and immediate need for support during COVID-19, UCLA partnered with Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD initiative and Jack Dorsey’s Start Small fund to create an online COVID-19 Care Package. UCLA Depression Grand Challenge’s self-guided website provides self-care strategies and exercises based on research-backed cognitive behavioral therapy principles to help people struggling with stress and anxiety brought on or worsened by the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The first installment of the COVID-19 Care Package includes five tips for coping with COVID-19 anxiety, stress and sadness and a video featuring DGC Co-Director, Michelle Craske. New materials will be posted over the next few weeks covering topics such as the following.
- Managing worries
- Maintaining a balanced news diet
- Creating order when you feel overwhelmed
- Finding balance when stretched too thin
- Managing anxiety with going back to work
- Recovering from stress and trauma
- Moving past regret from canceled plans
- Staying calm and managing fears
- Reducing loneliness and feelings of isolation
