On May 16, 2022, Vice Chancellor Monroe Gorden and CAPS Director Nicole Green announced the opening of the Stress and Resilience or “STAR” Program. This program represents a collaboration between the Depression Grand Challenge and various offices from the Student Affairs organization. Students complete a brief registration process, take the STAR Wellness Check (a five-minute adaptive test that assesses the presence and severity of anxiety, depression and suicidality symptoms). Students receive immediate feedback on their level of distress and then are presented service options that are responsive to their needs, including the Student Toolkit for Anxiety and Depression, a referral to CAPS services and when necessary, crisis response.
