An op-ed from the Daily Bruin — a the student-run newspaper at UCLA – focused on the need for more graduate student mental health resources and drew attention to the Depression Grand Challenge. Graduate students generally suffer from higher rates of depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation compared to the general population. The DGC was cited as a leader in providing mental health resources to graduate students through the Screening and Treatment for Depression and Anxiety program, which offers an innovative online approach to assess student’s mental health and connect to treatment as necessary.
