Depression Grand Challenge featured at Women & Philanthropy’s Fall Cultivation Event

UCLA Women & Philanthropy featured the UCLA Depression Grand Challenge during its 2015 Fall Cultivation Event on Nov. 17, 2015. The event featured a panel discussion to highlight the DGC’s aims to cut the burden of depression in half by 2050. Kelsey Martin, MD-PhD (co-chair of the Depression Grand Challenge’s Leadership Council, and then-Interim Dean, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA) moderated the discussion and was joined by Carrie Bearden, PhD (Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, Psychology, and Brain Research Institute), Eliza Congdon, PhD (Psychiatry and UCLA Center for Neurobehavioral Genetics), and Michelle Craske, PhD (Psychology, Psychiatry and Biobehavorial Sciences, and Director of the Anxiety and Depression Research Center). The panel of UCLA experts shared prevention strategies, new interventions and treatment screenings, what depression means for women in particular, and why they were inspired to work on this monumental endeavor.
