Michelle Craske joins Kevin Love in Cleveland to talk with Cleveland Cavaliers organization about depression, anxiety

UCLA Depression Grand Challenge Executive Committee member Michelle Craske (psychology and psychiatry professor and member of the Executive Committee of the Depression Grand Challenge) joined Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player and former UCLA standout Kevin Love on the Today Show with Hoda Kotb on March 18, 2020.) traveled to Cleveland to join Cleveland Cavaliers star and former UCLA standout Kevin Love for a discussion on mental health awareness on Oct. 9, 2019. The discussion was timed to coincide with the eve of World Mental Health Day, a day which takes place every year on Oct. 10 to raise awareness about mental health issues.

The pair sat down and spoke in front of a crowd of 500 Cavaliers team members at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. They touched on topics including Love’s personal mental health journey and the importance of destigmatizing discussions about mental health. At the end of their conversation, to Professor Craske’s delight, Love presented her with his signed Cavaliers jersey and a pair of his basketball shoes.
